The Al-Fateh Mosque is one of the largest mosques in the world, capable of accommodating over 7,000 worshippers at a time. The mosque is the largest place of worship in Bahrain. Located next to the King Faisal Highway in Juffair, the mosque hosts Open Days which are open to people of all faiths.
The huge dome built on top of the Al-Fateh Mosque is made of pure fiberglass. Weighting over 60 t ons, the dome is currently the world’s largest fiberglass dome. Al-Fateh now includes the new National Library which opened to the public in 2006. The mosque was built by the late Sheikh Isa Bin Salman Al Khalifa in 1987. It is named after Ahmed Al Fateh, the conqueror of Bahrain.
At night, it stands out as a magnificent floodlit beacon on reclaimed land, a symbol of the spirit, adventure and religious zeal against the relentless threat of the sea.
