CELEBRATIONS marking Onam, the harvest festival of Kerala, have got underway in Bahrain.

Poovili 2012 will continue until August 31 and feature cultural and musical entertainment by leading film and television artists from Kerala.

An 'Athapookkalam' competition where people created designs with flowers set the ball rolling on 11 days of celebrations.

The events are being organised by the Bahrain Keraleeya Samajam (BKS) in association with Synergy Middle East Group.
